Easter Triduum Photos

A large group of resident guests and many daily visitors joined the monastic community for the ceremonies of the Easter Triduum, beginning with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday evening. We are grateful to regular visitor Miriam Power for permission to reproduce some of her photos from the weekend here.

Holy Thursday – Entrance Procession

‘We should glory in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
in whom is our salvation, life and resurrection,
through whom we are saved and delivered.’

Holy Thursday – Washing of the Feet

‘This is how all will know that you are my disciples:
if you have love for one another.’

Holy Thursday – Altar of Repose

‘Stay here and keep watch with me.’

Good Friday – Opening Prostration

He was despised and rejected by others;
a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity;
and as one from whom others hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him of no account.’

Good Friday – Adoration of the Holy Cross

‘Behold the wood of the Cross,
on which hung the salvation of the world.
Come, let us adore.’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – Gathering

‘The Church calls upon her sons and daughters,
scattered throughout the world,
to come together to watch and pray.’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – The New Fire

‘Grant that, by these paschal celebrations,
we may be so inflamed with heavenly desires,
that with minds made pure
we may attain festivities of unending splendour.’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – Lighting the Paschal Candle

‘May the light of Christ rising in glory
dispel the darkness of our hearts and minds.’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – Lucernarium

‘The Light of Christ!
Thanks be to God!’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – The Easter Proclamation

‘Exult, let them exult, the hosts of heaven,
exult, let Angel ministers of God exult,
let the trumpet of salvation
sound aloud our mighty King’s triumph!.’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – The Easter Proclamation

‘This is the night
of which it is written:
The night shall be as bright as day,
dazzling is the night for me,
and full of gladness.’

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night – Regina Caeli

‘Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia!
For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia!
Has risen, as he said, alleluia!
Pray for us to God, alleluia!’
