T4W: Mind our Plants

cassavaOur planet provides over 80,000 species of plants for use as food.  The food industry only uses about 20 species of plant and this is now reduced to eight plants.

The future of the world rests on these eight food plants and the problem is that the knowledge of the other 79,992 is rapidly being lost!

The eight plants are wheat, rice, corn, potato, barley, cassava, sweet potato, and soy beans.

These are processed and packaged for sale. In the main they are emptied of their nutritional value and sugar, salt and fat are added.

The modified foods are so easily digested that they can be harmful to the body.

With the exception of cassava the reproductive process is under threat from increases in temperature and UV radiation.
